20 Reasons to be Thankful for Singleness:

IMG_6927There are several reasons to be thankful for singleness. Maybe you are in a waiting season as a single person and fighting discontentment. Maybe you are struggling with appreciating your current season.

Here are 20 reasons to be thankful during your singleness:

1. Be thankful your heart has not settled for second best.

Singleness has taught me so much about myself. I realized how valuable I am once I stopped settling for every charming word and gesture. Be thankful that you have not settled for just any guy. Be thankful that God is preparing you to meet the man He has written for life since the beginning of time.

2. Be thankful for the freedom in your schedule.

Enjoy the ability to be independent and create your own schedule without checking in with another person. Enjoy creating days specifically for no one but yourself. Enjoy creating a To-Do list without anyone messing up your list or schedule.

3. Be thankful to spend time with your family.

Do not ever take family for granted. Singleness is a great time to spend quality time with your family. Remember that your family may not be around forever so hold onto every memory that you create with them.

4. Be thankful for your friends.

Be thankful for every friendship that you have made during your singleness. Friendships and community is so important. Enjoy your time with your best friends.

5. Be thankful for your weird and awesome quirks that make you different from every other female.

There are too many young girls and women who pretend to be someone that they are not. They tend to hide their uniqueness and quirks that make themselves different from the other girls. Ladies, don’t hide who you are. A man will fall in love with every weird and unique quirk; don’t hide yourself because you are afraid to be your true self! True love will never walk away, don’t forget that!

6. Be thankful for the last relationship that didn’t work out.

Sounds a lot easier said than done, right? Be thankful for every boy who did not appreciate you. Be thankful for every boy who broke your heart because that means God has someone who is man enough to pursue your heart. Don’t lose hope when the circumstances seem hopeless. I promise, God has someone for you – don’t worry your pretty heart away.

7. Be thankful for your surroundings.

Enjoy where you are. Enjoy who you surround yourself with. Enjoy where you live. Enjoy your cat. Enjoy your dog. Enjoy the city life. Enjoy the country life. Enjoy the mountains. Wherever you are – enjoy your surroundings now. Don’t wait for a man to enjoy where you are at.

8. Be thankful for every random adventure you get to experience.

Go on a road trip! Travel the world! Go on a mission trip. Be adventurous and document every experience through journaling, pictures, and videos. You’re only young and single for a short amount of time… go for it and live it up!

9. Be thankful with the ability to pray uninterrupted.

Spend alone time with Jesus. Don’t be afraid to be corny and go on a date with Him. Spend devoted time with him and embrace where you are at with your whole heart without the sight of distractions.

10. Be thankful to experiment with your cooking!

YouTube will be your ultimate best friend besides a cook book. Woman up and take the time to learn how to cook without burning your meals every night. Your future husband will be forever thankful!

11. Be thankful for taking care of your own laundry.

Imagine washing his dirty socks and SpongeBob boxers… gross.

12. Be thankful to save your money.

Singleness is great time to pay off any debt that you may have accumulated such as a new vehicle, college, mortgage, etc. Learn to how use your money wisely, save your money and pay off all your debt.

13. Be thankful to have sleepovers with your friends.

I mean sleepovers are fun, right?

14. Be thankful to be selfish for a small second.

Singleness gives you the ability to not share your favorite chocolate or coffee with anyone yet. There is nothing wrong with being slightly selfish for a small second. Enjoy it while you can!

15. Be thankful you don’t have to share your bed yet.

There is nothing wrong with being a bed hog!

16. Be thankful for first date butterflies.

First dates are always scary but you never know when your first date may be your last first date.

17. Be thankful to fight your fears without prince charming coming to the rescue.

Singleness will teach you how to overcome your insecurities and fears without needing a man to come to the rescue. You can be your own hero!

18. Be thankful to learn patience.

Patience, patience, patience.
Wait, wait, wait.
Waiting on God may seem like an eternity long. However, God loves a patient heart.
Patience gives God the ability to mold you into the woman you were meant to be.

19. Be thankful to enjoy your hobbies and try new things.

Singleness is a great opportunity to enjoy what you love and try new things. Enjoy what makes your heart skip a beat. Don’t be afraid to try something new! Go and have fun! Don’t let anything stop you from pursuing happiness.

20. Be thankful to take the time to know yourself.

Get to know yourself! It is important that you know who you are before dating a man. You should know your likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, dreams and fears. Understand that your identity is not defined by a man but through Christ within you.

Hey ladies, remember this:

Ladies, singleness is not a disease! Singleness is a gift that should never be taken for granted. Take the time to find contentment and be thankful for your current season. I know it is a lot easier said than done but I believe you can do it!

Ladies, you are precious! You are beautiful gems just waiting to be discovered. Don’t wait around for a man to discover you. Be you! Be the woman you want to be! Don’t settle for second best. Don’t waste your time trying to make people love you. You are worthy of love; you don’t need to force it. Don’t try to rush what is not meant for you. God’s timing is perfect and remain patient during this season.

Remember, singleness is only a season – a season that will not last forever. Embrace it! Be thankful for this season because there is not a return policy once you are married.
